Control of platform screen doors in subway stations

The EOS4 safety light curtains are used to detect the presence of people or objects in the space between the platform screen doors and the train.
The term “Platform Screen Doors” or “Platform Barriers” means the protection, usually in glass/steel, between the waiting platform of the station and the railway or subway.
Especially in case of renovation of old stations, as you can see in the image to the right, there is a space between the platform screen doors and the train where you could accidentally get stuck.
Request:
Detect with safety, that people or objects do not remain within the space between the platform screen doors and the train when the doors are closed.
Presence detection in security booth
Example of application: ENI Refineries Sannazzaro (PV)
The EOS2 safety light curtains are used to detect the presence of people inside the access security booth to the control room of the refinery.
The light curtain provides safe handling of presences in the access zone to the control room.
The control room is designed to resist and remain effective even in case of serious accidents. For this reason, the working staff passes through the security booths with 2 doors without glass.
Request:
Detect with safety, that people do not remain within the access security booth.
Achievement:
The light curtain is horizontally positioned about 25cm from the floor in order to detect the presence of a person standing or lying. The outputs of the light curtains are connected to a PLC that controls the doors opening / closing cycles and other transit operations.
Achievement:
EOS4 safety light curtains are positioned on the inner side of the platform screen door near the sliding doors slightly inclined forwards.
This inclination allows an expansion of the controlled space to the edge of the platform.
The standard reference for the construction of the Platform screen doors is the UNI 7508 - Under-ground Station platforms.
