Q: At which Alert Level will EM be open?

A: EM will be open at all levels but operating on a “risk-adjusted” basis aligned to the Government's National Command Council provincial rating.

Q: Will I be able to place orders?

A: EM provides electrical components and equipment to our customers that service hospitals, food supply-chain, telecommunications, power generation and distribution, commercial farming, water pump stations and sewerage treatment plants among other manufacturing and service requirements.  EM will service orders per our risk adjusted framework.


Q: Will I still be able to access normal services such as sales, technical and accounts support?

A: EM operates a fully cloud-based systems architecture. All normal services can be offered on a risk adjusted basis, in-person at our branches or remotely via email, telephone, videoconferencing, whatsapp and cellphones.  Our normal telephone lines remain operational.


Q: What is EM doing to ensure the safety of their staff and supply chain?

A: EM will only operate within the regulations of the South African government meeting lockdown regulations as gazetted from time-to-time as well as following the guidelines of the World Health Organisation.  Staff that can provide services from home will do so.  Each employee entering EM premises will be screened and temperature taken daily. EM staff equipped with required PPE. 


Q: What social distancing measures will be in place for customers visiting your premises?

EM will limit the number of customers allowed into sales, technical and dispatch areas. The limits will be managed per premises. All customers entering an EM premises will be screened and temperature taken by security at the entrance to each premises. Customers found to have symptoms or a temperature will not be permitted to exit their vehicle. 


Q: Is EM open to customers outside South Africa?

A: Yes, all of our services are available in line with the risk adjusted framework. It is our understanding that the governments are in cooperation to allow the flow of goods across borders.
